Lobina Transport gets young athletes ahead of the game

October 4, 2021

International logistics company Lobina Transport has become the headline sponsor of the new DIS Performance Prep Squad.

The initiative launched in September 2021 with a weekly training session for aspiring athletes aged nine to 11 at Findern Primary School. It was fully-subscribed ahead of the first meeting.

DIS managing director Chloe Maudsley said: “Thanks to the generous support of Lobina Transport we are now moving ahead with plans to open two more squads: one at West Park School in November and another at Chellaston Juniors in January 2022.

“The aim is to have 10 squads operating by the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. This sponsorship by Lobina Transport provides the momentum for us to achieve this vision.”

Simon Lobina (pictured), owner of Lobina Transport, which has its headquarters in Ilkeston, said: “We are delighted to support this fantastic initiative, which will allow  talented youngsters to get expert, age-appropriate help to allow them to take their sporting dreams as far as they want.

“In our business, we thrive on challenges. Our speciality is helping businesses with time-critical journeys. It seems appropriate that by supporting athletes from the age of nine onwards we will be helping them to get ahead of the game in their sporting journey and secure a competitive advantage too.”

Young athletes at Performance Prep Squad will learn about:

• Strength and conditioning: The fundamentals of movement to allow children prepare for the physical demands of high performance sport.

• Nutrition: When and how to fuel the body – and with what – so that it can perform at its best.

• Performance psychology: Learning the key traits of champions and how to apply them when it matters.

Chloe said: “The sessions will be safe and age-appropriate and we’re restricting numbers to just 10 at each squad so that we can dedicate attention to each child. The youngsters will have the chance to be inspired by visits from some DIS ambassadors who will share their journeys to success.

“For parents we can offer a chance to link up with other parents and our staff to learn how to support a talented child in the best possible way.”

Sessions will run during school term time and the cost will be £60 a month. To find out more call 07974 231564 or complete the online form below.
